What's in the Box? 846 Quest rooftop cargo bag, 4 x attachment straps, stuff sack, and instruction guide Manufacturer's Warranty Limited lifetime warranty About Thule To say that Thule's beginnings in the U.S. were humble would be an understatement. Founding member Ake Skeppner sold products at windsurf competitions on the New England shoreline, exhibited the product line at a number of different trade shows, and even canvassed local retailers in the greater New York area, all from his "office"--a now-famous station wagon. Initial success was found in the small but growing sport of windsurfing where a strong, reliable roof rack was an indispensable piece of equipment. This was quickly followed by success in the ski business where Thule's Swedish heritage certainly helped the product gain rapid acceptance. By the mid-1980s, the company sold products directly to ski and windsurfing shops but sold through distributors to address the large and growing bike business. A risky decision was made to terminate these distributor relationships and sell direct to retailers through a network of independent sales representatives. Much of the company's market success today can be traced to that decision. Shortly after, Ake hired an engineer and set up a small assembly plant in Elmsford, New York in order to design and manufacture bike carriers that would offer the features demanded by the U.S. consumer and compete effectively with other racks on the market. The company has since grown rapidly through product innovation, a commitment to quality, and the continuance of a strong entrepreneurial spirit as well as continuing to evolve their products to meet the needs of users.

Excellent Choice August 26, 2008 Purchased this cargo bag last minute before our trip. Traveled from Detroit Mi to Phoenix Ar (5000 miles, yes some of it was via scenic route and 90mph) we had no major issues with the product.
Luckily I read some other reviews prior. Correct they are not water-proof, only weather proof (water gets in). So take the time and put your stuff in a large garabage bag (55 gal works well). One other item; make sure you stuff it full; use blankets, pillows or anything soft to ensure it is full to prevent flapping.
I highly recommend this product.
Thule Quest Cargo Bag August 9, 2008 very pleased with our Thule #846 Quest Cargo bag. Traveled from NJ to S.C and back with no problems. Stayed in pleased, didnt hear any noise from tie down straps.I would definately recommend this product!
Great Bag July 12, 2008 Great product at a great price! We considered a more expensive, hard shell cargo carrier, but didn't want the hassle of storing it when it wasn't in use. This Thule rooftop bag is durable and conveniently stores in a small bag we carry in the back of the car.
good deal April 5, 2008 worked well and saved a TON of room in the car. We traveled from VA to FL and had some heavy rain. a few items were slightly damp, but not wet. The product is described as weather resistant, not waterproof - so that is exactly what it did. people recommended putting stuff into plastic bags for extra protection, but i was too lazy. i only put stuff up there that could get damp. straps do make noise if you let any hang loose. keep twisting and tying knots to prevent any flapping. easy to install, load, unload, and remove.
Thule 846 Quest Rooftop Carrier - Great to Have September 17, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Purchased this as a last minute item when we realized we did not have enough room in the van for all our stuff and kids for a road trip. We were very pleased with the Thule 846 Rooftop Cargo bag. It is soft, so its easy to get "Stuff" in there. We were pleasanlty surprised by the amount of items it actually held.
Drove through wind and rain.. remarkbly, nothing inside was wet.
Easy to hook up. Everything is built in, attaches directly to roof with straps. We found it easier to fill the bag on the ground then lift it to the roof; This option requires strong, tall men though!
