4 out of 5 stars TomTom One   September 19, 2007
I am perfectly satisfied with this TomTom One GPS. As A matter of fact I have two units, one for each car.

4 out of 5 stars Great for the Price   August 23, 2007

****
A friend of mine bought this GPS receiver, and we set it up together. The TomTom ONE is remarkably user-friendly, extremely easy to set up, and intuitive to operate.

The screen features a nice "driving view" that was unavailable in GPS systems at the time I bought my GPS; this view is more 3D, very easy to read and quite appealing. For the price, it seems to be an incredible value.

The TomTom ONE kit comes with a USB cable that hooks up to your computer and a CD that can be used to manage it over the computer, giving greater flexibility in management. My old GPS can only be managed from the console in my car.

Seeing the capabilities of this portable GPS system, I wished I would have not had a different GPS installed in my vehicle, but instead purchased this unit. The TomTom ONE can be transported and used in rental cars on trips, or in friends' cars, and there are no worries about it being stolen, as it is small enough to stow away in your purse. Versatile, easy to use, inexpensive---what more could you want in an entry-level GPS?

5 out of 5 stars Awesome...   August 10, 2007

I've never used any other GPS device, but I have to say, from my experience, that the TomTom ONE is awesome. I never have to worry about getting lost again, and anyone who drives with me is instantly sold on the product.

It's got tons of features, and frankly, I don't have the time to go into it now. Just know that it's really, really useful.

The battery life is pretty low, maybe 2 hours, but it comes with a car charger, so it's not really an issue. For $300, you can't go wrong. I love my TomTom and will never ever look up online directions again, nor will I ever have that uneasiness that comes with traveling to a new location.

4 out of 5 stars TomTom One experience   July 9, 2007

Not wanting to spend too much on my first GPS receiver,I store-tested, read
the reviews & contacted the manufactures of the Garmin Nuvi 200 and Mio C220.
I bought the TomTom One in spite of its short un-recharged battery life.
Only TomTom One has Mac-friendlly downloads (Mac OS 10.4.8 and earlier.)
The TomTom One DOES recharge while in use with the cigarette lighter cable.
The Nuvi 200 cannot set up an itenerary, having only one waypoint set.
The Mio C220 requires two volume adjustments, software & hardware. Neither,
in two separate tests provided adequate sound for use in a vehicle.
The maps are not perfect--none of them will ever be completely up to date.
Don't throw out your Thomas Guide. Use it to set an address which IS in the
TomTom One base and eyeball navigate to the desired address.
I don't use the mount, finding it easier to lay the GPS on the seat and
just listen to the voice prompts, with an occasional visual check.
Customer Service contacts have been very positive.
