Decent pump for price July 15, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I just received this product and for the price it's not all bad. It came with a carry bag which makes storing the compressor, the hose and attachments easy. My 4 star rating is purely price related... I've used products costing 2x as much that had trouble blowing up a mattress, this one does ok. For me its primary use would be for pumping up the boat toys and air mattress when we go camping. When trying to top-off a tire in my Integra it blew a fuse like some earlier comments, It appears the way to correct it is to turn the compressor on first then connect it to the tire, following that order I was able to use it just fine, it added approx 5 psi in about a 45-60 seconds. If you're looking for pumping up tires I would not recommend this product as it will not last very long for this purpose. occasional tire top-off and blowing up mattresses this thing does with ease and fairly quietly. In summary this product considering its price and purpose has 2 issues in my opinion: 1) have to run the compressor before connecting the tire 2) a 110v plug would be really nice to use around the house once in a blue moon.
Great product June 18, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This product deserves the 5 stars I am giving it. It's too bad that so many of you rated it with such low scores because of your lack of understanding of what this product is intended for and how to use it PROPERLY. Your fuses are all being blown because the compressor draws more current than what your fuses are rated for. Don't blame the compressor! A typical cigarette lighter won't work for most cars. You need to plug into the accessory port now found on most newer cars. And so many of you are expecting it to blow up large tires or other objects in seconds. That is not what this compressor was designed for. It is basically for emergency situations. It is compact and portable so that you can keep it in the trunk of your car. If you want to blow your flat tire up in less than a minute then spend thousands of dollars and buy a compressor like those found at gas stations. Have fun powering it and trying to keep it in the trunk of your car though. Learn about the product you are buying before you buy it. Don't bad mouth it because you bought something and didn't use it the way it was designed to be used. Geez. You have given this product a much lower score than it deserves because you didn't do your homework and now the manufacturer suffers because of your poor ratings. (No, I don't work for or know of anyone who works for this company.)
Fills up quickly for its small size. May 22, 2008 First off, this pump seems very well put together. The hose connector snaps in easily and doesn't feel flimsy. The unit has rubber bushings on the bottom to minimize movement. Not too noisy for a small pump compared to other pumps I have owned. It fills up pretty quickly. The power cord is long enough to move around easily and the hose uncoils for extra length. The pressure gauge is slightly inaccurate, probably off by 1-2psi. My car needs 33psi so I aim for a touch over 34psi when I'm filling up my tires and reading the pressure gauge. The case is VERY useful in that it houses the pump w. room for other small supplies. I'm very skeptical when it comes to the reliability of pumps since every pump I've owned failed very quickly. However, this pump really seems to be well made.
Past Problems Not Fixed April 19, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As reported in other reviews, it blew the cigarette lighter fuse on day 1. I was disappointed that this known problem had not been fixed by the manufacturer. Even though I was able to return it easily enough to Amazon, I think it should not be purchased or sold unless the manufacurer specifically guarantees that the problem noted above by many users has been fixed.
Bad Parts April 7, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
The 12V plug fall apart when I open it. I think they use cheap plastic the think just fall apart to pieces. I mean pieces. I didn't bother to return end up buy new parts for $5.00 replace it myself.
