Welcome back Journey! August 29, 2008 This simply is a classic Journey album and "After all these Years" is one of the best Journey songs ever. On dvd you can see Neal Schon smiling all the way through and for a good reason: Journey is Back!
Best Journey Ever!!! August 25, 2008 I've been a fan of Journey since I heard Open Arms in the movie "Last American Virgin". I loved the voice of Steve Perry, even his other songs outside the band, but with all due respect to Steve, I think that Arnel Pineda tops him with his rendition of Journey's greatest hits. Unlike other people who posted their reviews, I haven't really listened to the new songs yet ... I'm still captivated with the remakes of the greatest hits - both from CD2 and the DVD.
The main difference is that Arnel clearly delivers the lyrics of the song ... it's really funny that I've had several copies of the old Journey greatest hits, have the copies of their songs on my mp3 player and PC, and listened to the music a thousand times or more, but I'm only learning the lyrics clearly now with Arnel's rendition ... another thing is that Arnel's voice seems more pleasant to listen again and again compared to Steve ...but in fairness to Steve, his rendition of Open Arms seems to have more feelings.
This CD/DVD is highly recommended ...The Journey is Back!!!
Arnel Pineda!!!!!!!!!!! August 22, 2008 I must say I was somewhat apprehensive about another Steve Perry replacement and Augeri really impressed me. Arnel, you left me lost for words. The CD has not left my player since I got it and I am not what you would consider a Journey fan (until now!) Keep the flame alive guys..........
Just like the movie "Rock Star" August 20, 2008 i can't imagine that Arnell will EVER be able to wipe the ****-eating grin off his face ... he is truly STOKED to be in this band, and it comes across in his performance. i keep picturing Mark Wahlberg in the movie "Rock Star" when the photographers are taking photos and Mark's character is supposed to be trying to look "tough" ... and he can't do it because he can't stop grinning.
Keep smiling, Arnell ... the re-recordings are GREAT ...and for those who think it's a slap in Steve's face ... remember these songs belong to Neal and JOURNEY as much (if not more) than they do to Steve Perry.
Kudos guys ... you've done it ... you've come back!
More than words August 19, 2008 Everybody here already said it all.So if you bought the album.Go see the concert.I did.It was the best concert I ever went to.Journey rocks! And Arnel was awesome!
